IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM CYP: Effective 26 August 2020, the NBG CDC is closed due to COVID-19 exposure.

NBG Child Development Center (CDC) CLOSURE

Effective August 26, 2020, the Naval Base Guam Child Development Center (CDC) will be closed due to COVID-19 exposure. The center will be closed for (5) five days or until cleared to re-open. During this time, the staff will clean and disinfect the CDC, and contact tracing will be conducted.

On Tuesday, Aug. 25, NBG was notified that an employee at the CDC tested positive for COVID-19. The contact tracing effort is underway and close contacts of the confirmed case will be notified directly. Close contact is an individual who has come in face-to-face contact with a confirmed COVID-19 individual for at least 10 minutes or more and within six feet, or who has had direct contact with infectious secretions of the confirmed COVID-19 individual (e.g. being coughed on). Both the confirmed case and close contacts will not be permitted to return to the CDC until cleared by medical providers.

Areas of the CDC have been identified for cleaning and disinfecting and will be off-limits to personnel until those processes are complete.
The procedures are in accordance with Commander, Navy Installations Command CDC guidelines. Parents will receive applicable refunds for childcare expenses. All staff, patrons, and guests will be notified appropriately. All families impacted by this closure are encouraged to seek alternate childcare options until the CDC is cleared to re-open.

NBG leadership will continually monitor the situation and provide additional information as it becomes available. Stay tuned to our social media for further updates.
